I hope you guys are having a wonderful day today. I want to talk to you about something that was placed on my heart during prayer. And that is strands of faith. And no, I am not talking about the hair brand. I am talking about it from a Biblical perspective. So, we all know that God knows the amount of strands that we have on our head. Scripture tells us in Luke 12:7 that God knows the very hairs on our head and that they are all numbered. He then tells us to fear not for we are more valuable than sparrows.
And, you know as I was praying, I was thinking about this, and He gave me an interesting revelation about it, so I'm just going to dive right in and talk with you guys about it.
God's Meticulous Knowledge:
So, we know at birth God knows exactly how many strands of hair we have on our head. At birth. Think about it. That's pretty amazing. Now fast forward to today. Right now, in this very moment. God still knows how many strands of hair you have on your head. Be it many or zero. Maybe over time you've lost all of your strands, but just know that God still knows and that He has kept count throughout your entire life journey. Y’all, I don’t know about y’all, but that gives me chills to know.
Hair Loss and Shedding:
Let me put this further in perspective for you. Ladies, when you think about wash day, it can be a very big deal. Throughout the process of washing our hair, we usually experience hair loss in the form of shedding. As you are brushing or combing your hair, you may notice strands left behind in your detangling tool. For the most part, if you have healthy hair, the strand loss is normal; it is just part of the shedding process, in which we usually lose around 100-150 strands per day, give or take.
So, when we are losing these strands in the form of shedding. God knew how many would be left down to the very strand.
Hair Breakage and Challenges:
Let’s take this a step further. We all have experienced breakage in one way, shape, form, or another. Maybe you've had a bad hair color job, or you've over-bleached your hair, and then you notice your hair starts to break shortly afterward. Perhaps you've over-manipulated your strands, resulting in a season of neglect and ultimately causing breakage over time.
God already knew that you were going to experience it way before it happened. Even alopecia, in the form that most of us know it, traction alopecia, where tight hairstyles cause hair loss. He already knew that you were going to experience hair loss in the form of alopecia before it happened.
God's Understanding:
So, with that in mind, think about it. If God knows how many strands of hair we have on our head, and then fast forward to today, right now as you're currently reading this, He still knows how many strands of hair you currently have on your head. That’s pretty phenomenal, right? This gives a whole new perspective to Jeremiah 29:11 when He tells us, “I know the plans that I have for you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” It makes this scripture even more believable.
Trials and Struggles:
Now, I want to talk a little bit about the sparrows or the birds. He tells us that they can fly around all happy and joyful in the sky and don’t have to worry about what they are going to eat or drink today or tomorrow or even next year. The reason they don’t have to worry is that God has already made their food available to them.
So, what do they do? They fly around knowing that they're going to come into their next meal not worrying about how they're gonna come into it or what they need to do to come into it. They just know that it's going to be there for them in their time of need.
God's Foreknowledge:
So, just take a quick moment and look at it from this perspective. Many times we like to ask, “Well, if God knew that I would be going through such tumultuous times in my life, then where is He? Why hasn’t He interceded?” I don’t have the answer to that for you, but I do know that we aren’t exempt from troubles in this world, and from my experience, they can actually make us stronger, mentally and spiritually. He tells us in John 16:33, “I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But be of good cheer! I have overcome the world.”
Talk to God:
But I will tell you that God is a God of understanding. He understands what you are going through because He knew you were going to experience it before it happened. Even still, He wants you to take it all to Him in prayer. Whatever you may be feeling right now, He wants you to bring it to Him and tell Him. Talk to Him just like I'm talking to you in this very moment like a friend. Speak to Him in this same manner. Your words don’t have to be fancy. You don't have to talk to Him in some kind of eloquent manner. Just be yourself. He will meet you wherever you are.
God Cares About You:
All He wants to hear is you speaking to Him in whatever language sounds best for you. However you communicate. That's how He wants you to talk to Him. Just simply say, you know God, you know I'm having a hard time right now. I don't know how I'm gonna pay my bills. I’m several dollars short on my rent. I just need you to make a way out of no way.
He Cares About Your Concerns:
I’m worried about my child. They are out there doing their own thing, and I don’t know what to do. I just need you to wrap your arms around them and protect them.
He Listens to Your Prayers:
God, my husband and I are having issues. I want to work things out with him but he is not interested. Please show us the way.
Trust His Timing:
God, I feel like I'm being looked over for a promotion at my job. I've done everything right that I could possibly do. I've worked hard. I've shown up on time. I've gone over and beyond. Yet, it still seems as if I am always looked over while the next person gets promoted.
Have Faith:
God, I desire to be married. I'm 38 years old and I'm single. All of my friends are either engaged or married and starting families. I desire the same but it doesn’t seem like it will happen for me. It seems like you have forgotten about me. When is my time going to come?
God's Promises:
Listen, you have to talk to God and let him know what you are feeling. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Speak His word back to Him, and let Him know what He has promised you. Talk to Him and tell Him your deepest darkest secrets, all of your concerns, and just allow Him to give you the peace that you need in this season.
God Has Not Forgotten You:
Remember, He knew at birth how many strands of hair you had on your head. That in itself speaks of volume and goes to show that He cares about you. He was meticulous in creating you in His very image. He loves you. He cares about all of your faults, all of your troubles, so surely He cares about your well-being in every aspect of your life. Even down to your current struggles.
Trust His Plans:
I just want to tell you that no matter what season you may be in right now, just stay encouraged and know that God has not forgotten about you. You may seem forgotten but He has not forgotten about you.
Conclusion:
God is a god of timing and in His timing, all things will be made new. So just know that even though you may be going through a season of struggle right now, God knows the plans that He has for you, which are plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Facts: God is all-knowing. Faith: Trust that better days are to come. Feeling: Your season of struggle won’t last always regardless of what your feelings may have you to believe.
